While the UV-82 is pretty much a UV-52 in a new wrapper, they left off the V/M button that allows you to change between Memory/Channel mode and the VFO where you can choose any frequency. I'm assuming this was directed at business-type users, who didn't want their employees having the ability to use any frequency the radio could access. In this video, I quickly review how to change between the modes.

Would you or anyone else reading this happen to know...? Is this radio unable to edit a channels settings while in "memory/channel" mode? (manually not with PC).
